FOUNDATIONS
For 20 years, TUTORWORKS has used a blended learning approach incorporating technology and motivating staff to help students to learn more effectively and to have fun. TUTORWORKS FOUNDATIONS supports your students with just the right combination of academics and fun. This unique remote learning option that is designed to help students develop critical reading and math skills in a flexible learning environment.
The TUTORWORKS FOUNDATIONS remote learning class is for 1st – 4th grade students and is delivered Monday - Thursday. This live, teacher-led synchronous remote learning class includes dynamic expert instructors and academic coaches to provide support to parents and students. The TUTORWORKS FOUNDATIONS instructional program focuses on teaching phonics-based literacy, foundational math concepts, and basic computational math using our adaptive learning and kinesthetic pedagogical approaches. FOUNDATIONS also includes highly engaging enrichment modules. All students are assessed and given appropriate learning activities based on their assessment results. Full compliance data is collected automatically including attendance and achievement indicators.
CODE WRITE DRAW
CODE WRITE DRAW is an innovative program designed to engage even the most reluctant learners. Our unique approach integrates computer science, creative writing, and the arts to engage students in a personal journey that fosters self-efficacy, and positions them for long-term success inside and outside the classroom.
The Hero's Journey
Comparative mythology researcher Joseph Campbell popularized the concept of the “Hero’s Journey” as the common story across cultures of a hero who goes on an adventure, faces tests and trials, and returns home changed. The “Hero’s Journey” serves as the thematic framework for the CODE WRITE DRAW program modules and provides an integrated narrative student experience.

Each participant receives at least 20 plus hours of STEAM-related instruction, plus optional workshop time with their peers. The program uses a "Hero's Journey" thematic framework and includes exposure to local industry professionals who share their own STEAM journeys. The program culminates with an exhibition where students present their completed work to industry expert judges and families.
This cohort-based learning program has been a favorite during modified school settings with greater than 90% attendance across all programs. TUTORWORKS CODE WRITE DRAW INTERVENTION combines the highly engaging CODE WRITE DRAW program with extra class time focused on the computational thinking skills that anchor the coding class and the mechanics of the writing process (including sentence and paragraph structure, editing, and grammar).
TUTORWORKS Mastery
The TUTORWORKS MASTERY program is an on-site academic intervention program that can be customized to address students’ specific needs. It uses and integrates both TUTORWORKS certified staff and technology-based supports and interventions as part of the instructional program. This intensive program maximizes student gains by focusing on knowledge gaps, positive academic routines, and test-taking skills in a highly motivational learning environment. Schools may choose up to four modules.

Foundational Reading Skills: Using the "See It, Hear It, Say It" instructional strategy, students use Explode The Code Online and Study Island to improve foundational literacy skills including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Our data-driven phonics instruction program features individualized instruction and reinforcement based on continuous assessment.

Homework Support: Instruction combined with independent learning to ensure that students not only understand homework concepts, but also learn how to apply those skills to achieve a deeper level of learning.
Foundational Mathematical Skills: Using strategies such as “practice with modeling," “incremental rehearsal," and fun math drills, students use the XtraMath and Study Island programs to promote fluency in computation and knowledge of math facts. Instruction focuses on basic math skills which are carefully sequenced to follow a logical order of concepts including number sense and operations, spatial relationships and shapes, comparing and measuring, and pattern knowledge.
California Common Core State Standards Mastery: Students receive small-group instruction on areas of need identified through our assessments or school choice. Students are then gradually released to complete lessons utilizing our computer-adaptive curricula. This component supports students in navigating and mastering technology enhanced items on the Smarter Balanced Assessments and CAASPP Systems by providing valuable experience in computer-adaptive tests and performance tasks.

WORKSHOPS
Since 2001, TUTORWORKS has served more than 25,000 students and partnered with 145 school districts and more than 850 schools in California. During that time, we have worked collaboratively with parents to enhance student success. We have been very effective with parent engagement. Our TUTORWORKS PARENT WORKSHOP SERIES is based on our most popular parent training sessions. The TRAINING SERIES provides an important solution to a common challenge schools face: How can you harness parent involvement to help student success without putting more demands on school staff resources?
The PARENT WORKSHOP SERIES is designed to both educate and also inspire parents to more effectively support their children’s success in school. The workshops target specific outcomes such as increased school attendance, participation in supplemental programs, goal-setting or CAASPP test support. Each of the bi-lingual interactive workshops includes motivational activities for students and parents. The TRAINING SERIES can be targeted to a specific group of parents or offered to all parents and students at a given school site or district. Schools and districts may choose from our list of workshops for the PARENT TRAINING SERIES or suggest a different topic targeted to specific socio-emotional or academic needs.
The workshops target specific outcomes such as increased school attendance, participation in supplemental programs, goal-setting or CAASPP test support.
Decades of research have established that higher levels of parent involvement are related to academic success for students. When schools, families, and communities work together to support learning, students tend to earn higher grades, attend school more regularly, stay in school longer, and seek more challenging learning opportunities. Researchers also agree that rates of parental involvement tend to be lower in disadvantaged communities, often due to life demands, language barriers, parents’ educational level, or lack of information about how to support their child’s learning. Our workshops draw from best practices on the most effective strategies to foster parent engagement and participation, including: proactively and effectively communicating with families (e.g., translation assistance and related services); empowering parents with specific training, tools, and ideas to support and monitor their children’s learning at home; and most notably, engaging family members in interactive experiences
We know that motivating parents to support their children’s learning in deep ways is complex. We believe that one of the most powerful ways to influence parents’ involvement in their children’s learning is to work together in partnership with schools. As an external advocate, TUTORWORKS highlights the resources the school already provides and the advantages of deep parental involvement in student success. We have been that external advocate for many schools and we can be an advocate for you too.
